About Moi

I run, teach, mother, wife, write…not necessarily in that order. And I don’t necessarily do all of those things well at any given time. Balance, schmalance.

In 2012 I turned 40, so naturally I had something to prove to myself and ran the 2012 ING NYC Marathon Lehigh Delaware Heritage Marathon. It was my first one and it was awesome awful awesome. I also raised $2136 for LitWorld. WOOT!

In 2013, I upped the ante and did my first triathlon (hooked!) and ran a huge PR in the Philadelphia Marathon. Now I feel like I can put that 26.2 magnet on the car.

For 2014, I’m recovering from a running-related toe injury for the first few months, so I’m cross-training and trying new things. I’ll be running the 2014 NYC Marathon on November 2, 2014.

Follow me as I try not to injure myself (again) and carve out some “me” time. No, srsly.

  1. Amazing! You are so inspirational. You can totally do this marathon. I am so incredibly happy for you that you’ve discovered running as your new love! Run Nancy, RUN!

  2. Hi Nancy,

I have three daughters who are just beginning to run with their dad. They wear Nike sneakers; We bought lots of them at the Nike store in Portland, Oregon. Although they are good sneakers, I’m not sure that they are the best for running on trails. Is there a sneaker that you would recommend for beginners?

    Thanks for the inspiration.

    • Hi Patty,
Yay running families! I would say the only good shoe is one that fits them and their running lifestyle. Much depends on where & how much they run, and foot strike pattern. I’ve worn Nike, New Balance, Brooks, Asics, and now Newtons. I would say to go to a specialty running store and get fitted by someone who does nothing but selling running shoes – most stores like that will be able to find the right shoes for them no matter what the brand.

  4. Hi Nancy,

I enjoy reading your blog! I have nominated you for a Liebster Award. Not sure if you are familiar with it or not. It’s for bloggers to nominate other blogs they enjoy reading that have a small following. Your blog reminds me very much of myself. I love your humour.

Anyway, for the questions I was required to ask you and the list of rules, you can see my blog post where I have nominated you here at http://darilynweiss.blogspot.ca.

    Thanks!
    Darilyn
